Goodbye Paper – Hello Digital: Property transactions go digital for Territorians with the launch of PEXA

PEXA, Australia’s leading digital property settlement platform pioneer, has arrived in the Northern Territory. Launching today, PEXA world-first technology is set to revolutionise the property transaction process for Territorians, transforming it from paper to electronic, making it faster, more secure and more reliable.
The Australian PEXA platform, which is classed as national critical infrastructure, is used in 90% of all property settlements across Australia and will be a game-changer for the Territory’s conveyancers, lawyers, and homebuyers and sellers. It means Territorians will have access to the streamlined digitised property settlement and lodgement service enjoyed by the rest of country – for the same price.
The PEXA launch in the Northern Territory is the first in a staged roll out, starting with digital mortgages, discharge of mortgages, and refinancing launched today.
Major Territory lenders and government agencies central to the property sector have already joined the PEXA Exchange platform with local legal practitioners to follow as full Sale and Purchase functionality becomes available over the next 12 months. PEXA’s ambition is for 100% digital transactions for the NT by the end of 2026.
Launching the first digital discharge of mortgage transaction in Darwin today, PEXA Group CEO Russell Cohen said the company was delighted to deliver this world leading technology into the Territory.

Across Australia, PEXA connects more than 10,000 legal practitioners and 160 financial, government and statutory bodies, providing an orchestration platform that facilitates seamless property settlements, connecting up to nine parties in a single transaction. The launch today marks PEXA achieving full national coverage of the PEXA Exchange platform, with the service now available in all states and Territories.
